- Inspect the receiver and rack for damage, contamination or incompatible dimensions.
- Follow the supplied product instructions for insertion, pinning, bolting and torque.
- Check clearance from the bumper, exhaust, road and moving parts.
- Use a qualified installer if any installation or fastener detail is uncertain.

HOW TO SECURE THE KAYAK.
- Check that the kayak is within every verified product and vehicle limit.
- Position the hull only on intended padded contact surfaces.
- Use the exact strap and tie-down arrangement required by the final product instructions.
- Protect straps from sharp edges, heat and moving components.
- Check that the load cannot shift in any direction before driving.

HOW TO COMPLETE A PRE-TRIP CHECK.
- Inspect the hitch, pin, bolt, rack and contact pads.
- Recheck every restraint and required secondary tie-down.
- Verify plate, lights, mirrors, exhaust and road clearance.
- Check compliance with the laws for every jurisdiction on the route.
- Stop shortly after departure and at regular intervals to recheck the system.
